Bodo Buschmann and his Brabus crew is back with two brand new Brabus derivatives of the second-generation Smart fortwo - the fortwo BRABUS and fortwo BRABUS Xclusive. Brabus premiered the models in Geneva back in March, but announced today that the cars are finally ready to hit the road. The three cylinder turbocharged engine from the standard fortwo has been reengineered to produce an impressive 98 bhp (72 kW) and 140 Nm (103 lbs/ft) at 3,500 rpm, launching the 750 kg midget from naught to 100 km/h in 9.9 seconds. Although the fun stops at an electronically limited 155 km/h, Brabus claims that its fortwo will sip only 5.2 litres per 100 km (that's over 45 mpg for you on the U.S. system).

The smart fortwo BRABUS comes with "bright-finish "Monoblock VI" alloy wheels with wide tyres measuring 175/50 R 16 at the front and 225/35 R 17 at the rear, wider rear wheel arches, a sports exhaust system with centrally positioned dual tailpipes in the specially styled rear apron and a body lowered by ten millimetres." None of this matters, obviously, if you haven't got the "Brabus" feeling while sitting IN the car. Luckily, Brabus has remembered proper interior modifications, including cockpit instruments with specially designed dials, BRABUS stainless steel sports pedals and a new BRABUS leather steering wheel with shift paddles, which Brabus claims "underlines the exclusiveness of the model." Available in all colors, and in both coupé and cabrio models, the fortwo BRABUS prices start at 16,490 euros.

For three thousand euros more you get H7 projection headlamps with titanium coloured surrounds, a front spoiler with enlarged air inlets, striking side skirts, a special rear apron, body-colored styling parts, leather upholstery and a nice leather-effect instrument panel.
