Undisguised Opel Insignia Hatchback Spied
Will debut alongside sedan in London
Having just revealed the sedan version of the all new Opel Insignia, it appears GM are working on a hatchback version and judging by the lack of any camoflage on this particular prototype we should see both debuted together at the British Motor Show this summer with a third estate variant to follow next year.
Clearly the design differences are minimal with the most notable feature being the extended length of the rear window. Like the sedan version, the Insignia hatchback both front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive will be available and seven engines will be offered at first, four petrol engines ranging from a 4-cylinder 115-bhp unit to a 260-bhp V6 and three new 2.0-litre direct-injection diesels ranging from 110 to 160 bhp.

I thought it was a Jaguar XF.

Whoa! If the interior's nice, they'd be idiots to not bring this design to the States! That is a great-looking car.

they're bringing it to the states as the saturn aura. 2010 model year maybe?

That is bloody aweful. Please don't bring it to aus. Looks very Toyota Camryish.....and that's not a good thing!

There you go, the bread and butter model looks pish. Small wheels make this car look awfully dumpy and the white paint screams "hire car!".

White is new 'black' for cars.
by Lutzie | May 11, 2008 11:38 AM
Well i prefer it to the tacky Mondeo, but the Insignia saloon looks better and more balanced.
by Lutzie | May 11, 2008 11:28 AM
Yes, this looks like someone has stolen the back of it.
by bristol411s3 | May 11, 2008 11:31 AM
I know white is the new 'black' but it doesn't mean it looks good all the time.
by stillthewhizz | May 11, 2008 12:15 PM
Yeah, I don't like the trend for white either- it looks ok on angular/futuristic supercars and luxury cars- like a gallardo or phantom but not on budget cars. And surely white is the new silver.

Opel is testing the Insignia hatchback with NBA players, look at the co-pilot seen in the pic 3. This car is huge, longer than MB-E and BMW-5, but most of you are mistaking, the back is so similar to Astra TwinTop and Corsa D, has nothing to do with BMW.

Trailer who mentioned BMW? Nobody as far as I can see?

the rear 3/4 view there looks like a 645ci bmw. the overall shape in the middle looks like the current camry. the front lights look like they have been stretched aka C-Class headlights stretched across. and the rims on that model there are almost exact copies of the 645ci. my friend has a 645 ci convertible and they look just like these rims. overall though, very nice looking car lol!

i meant the front 3/4 view... the first picture

The front look of C-class, specifically the headlites are so similar to those of the Astra B's, be reminded. The only disturbing feature of this Insignia is the too low roof at the back, I do not think the backseats are as much comfortable as the current Vectra's. It is really a big disappointment for a family sedan.

Don't speak about some photos ! Speak about it when it's on the streets.I think will look great with a little tuning . Best from Romania

It needs bigger wheels and another color, maybe black, then we are talking...
