According to autocar, Skoda has given the green light for a production version of the Yeti design study which will be marketed as a new junior 4x4/SUV and is likely to be launched sometime in 2009.

Initially you would think Skoda would take the already developed platform of the VW Tiguan, but sources state the Czech automaker will develop a new platform based on its own existing products Information recently surfaced that the Volkswagen group will create a new small car platform which will be used for the next generation Skoda Fabia, leading to speculation this same platform could provide the underpinnings for the Yeti production version. Another possibility is that Skoda will take a similar route to the Roomster which mixes the front engine/axle and body structure of the new Fabia with the rear axle and body structure of the Octavia.

The new small SUV is said to be part of a much larger plan for Skoda which will see a four new models by 2010.

it looks much better than their silly looking Roomster. however this is verging on the slightly dated look in concept form and will be more so in production no doubt.... lets wait and see.

It looks chunky and bold, just what I like from a car! This will be a success, they should just change the name though!

In the first picture the front end and the angular design reminds me the new Mercedes GLK. But overall it looks like a Panda SUV.

the form is okay but would need to delete the "M16 rifle carry handle/foresight-looking roofrack" nobody latches drag-inducing,stability-compromising objects up there , anyway.
