The Mercedes E63 AMG is continuing its development process with these latest spy shots of a prototype caught by our photographers at Nurburgring. It still carries a fair amount of camouflage on its body, but there will be no great surprises in the styling department after Mercedes revealed the ConceptFASCINATION which previews styling for the entire E Class range.

The unsurprising theme will continue under the hood, AMG's 6.3-liter V8 unit will be used boasting a power figure of more than 500 horsepower and a 0-100km/h time of around 4 seconds.

Driver assistance in general is a major theme for W212. Expect lane-departure warnings, an eye-movement monitor, traffic-sign identification, road-condition sensors, and stability control that accounts for crosswinds, camber changes, and tire wear.

It will follow its E Class siblings 2009 Geneva debut with its own unveiling at the Frankfurt Motor Show in twelve months time before being launched as a 2010 model.

front end looks nice save for the "drawn with a ruler!" bonnet shut line thats part of the front wing. what is up with that? rear end looks mundane. c pillar is forgettable. still it will be smart with the right alloys. id always pick the 5 series though. even now its design genius. something bmw never managed to replicate to its other models.....

original sir.

by asif | September 17, 2008 2:38 PM
yes I agree.... more original than your narrow minded views initially stated. Thanks for the compliment.

why dont they give a 65 bi-turbo option.

by mmr66 | September 17, 2008 6:10 PM
Only 600 model's get the AMG 65 treatment. Besides, the 63 is more than enough for this car.

Still think the greenhouse looks like a previous-generation Honda Accord (US version). Hardly an improvement over the current generation. Side mirrors look very American and pedestrian-unfriendly, but at least they're not the giant Dumbo ears the C-Class wears.

by machida | September 17, 2008 8:01 PM
Actually I hated the Dumbo ears on my C-Class because it was so huge...but now that I got used to them I can't stand the mirrors on my E-Class because it feels so damn small.

The Dumbo ears rules...atleast functionally...which should really matter the most..err...

i hope that they release this car with the 2010 CLS the new one http://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-news/-new-generation-cls-coming-in-2010-ar63925.html

Old one looked good this looks like something KIA or Hyundai designed. Merc has completely lost it. Has TATA secretly taken ownership of Merc? Dont take that seriously.

huh?? :O

by sris | September 18, 2008 6:36 PM
There we go, the classic mistake. Please note the E63 AMG , as all other '63' AMG models have a 6,2 liter engine, not a 6,3 liter.

WCF is asleep-at-the-wheel again...

I like it. But then again, I like most Mercs.

I don't think the styling looks Korean at all. They're just stylish modern lines.

to atleast500hp: narrow minded? how exactly? back up the statement you coward.

by asif | September 18, 2008 12:27 PM
settle down asif, all I'm saying is you're very critical of a car that's covered in camouflage. take a chill-pill bro!

by atleast500hp | September 18, 2008 3:12 PM
see that wasnt hard, man. okay so i may be a little harsh but come one its shape is clear to see dude. its hardly camo'd is it?

by asif | September 18, 2008 4:11 PM
Hey, it might turn out looking like big scary dragon with the camo off.

Unlikely though -.-

by Straiyan | September 18, 2008 5:26 PM
I hope it is lighter than RS6...
